I was stationed on Wake Island, with the Air Force, in 1990 and 1991. I left my heart there. It is one of the most beautiful places in this old world.
The hermit crab in your ear is complete BS, don't believe a word of that.
I dove off the wall, over approximately 12,000+ feet of water, which was a very wierd feeling, without any mishap. Swimming in the lagoon was a pleasure too. Never had a problem with the local denisons of the deep, either.
I hope to get there again, sometime before I run out of time.
